Caroline Sharp, aka distractedbyshinyobjects, as Barbara Gordon/Batgirl.

Because you would be a flawless Babsgirl, my dear, and there needed to be at least one fancast for you in the tag.

And hopefully someday you’ll have the chance to show the world how absolutely awesome you would be in this role. ;-)

I can’t even breathe right now…

CSharp is one of my biggest cheerleaders with the fics and I’d like to add my vote for her to play Barbara is some capacity. Now let’s start figuring out who would play a 19-something Jason and 23-ish Dick so we can make her REALLY swoon.

I have to fully endorse this idea.

I logged into tumblr for the first time in months to reblog this because it’s just so awesome for my friend csharp (distractedbyshinyobjects)

Don’t Trust the B—— in Apt 23

Another television post!

On the heels of my Dawson’s Creek binge, I finally watched “Don’t Trust the B—— in Apt 23” and watched all seven episodes yesterday. Essentially, it’s amazing and absurdest and escapist and everything I like in my television shows. Honestly, the more they include James Van Der Beek, the better this show will be.

My favorite quotes from S1:

James Van Der Beek — the ‘Beek from the Creek’ — yeah, we dated for a while and then decided we were better off as friends. We really weren’t compatible genitally. Imagine trying to fit a cucumber into a coin purse. So yeah, now he’s like my gay BFF but straight.

——-

I have an ironic mustache, arigato, hey!

On re-read, I realize these aren’t as funny out of context, and the later one is completely confusing. Just watch the show. You’ll either love it or you’ll hate it. However, I will forever now call James Van Der Beek the Beek from the Creek or JVDB for obvious reasons.

The first is what it looked like in the early 60s, the second is what it looks like today, almost 50 years later.

Especially during the weekends, you’ll find several of our magician members performing impromptu sets in the small close-up performance space pictured.

Love my club, love vintage photographs, etc. and so on.

On Dawson’s Creek

I’m rewatching Dawson’s Creek. Because, well, it’s all on Netflix Instant and it has a very special place in my heart. If you enjoy any CW show, you have DC to thank for it. And if you hate them, you have DC to blame. Keep in mind, it started in 1998 when I was just turning 13 and it followed me until 2003 which is when I graduated High School. Literally, I grew up with this show.

Anyway, I just finished the finale of S2. If you’re planning, for some reason, to watch Dawson’s Creek and you didn’t watch it the first time, then you might want to stop reading. That being said, I’m not sure I ever got over Joey telling Dawson she will never forgive him after she turns her dad in. HEARTBREAK.

I love Joey/Pacey, but I will forever, forever love Dawson/Joey the most. And it’s pretty much over, bar a few special episode arcs. My heart.

Also, I do hope that it being on Netflix Instant sparks other Jr. High-HS aged individuals to start watching and creating the amazing gifs/fanart they do for everything else. Back in my day, we did everything with MS Paint and very, very elementary photo editing software.

Thank goodness I’m pretty much past this phase with most of my friends, but it’s how I feel when my boyfriend has his friends come over.

On Cancer

I’m reading one of the only papers I’ve been able to find examining the effects of parental cancer on young adults, specifically daughters. This quote sums it up the best of any I’ve found:

As a coping mechanism, participants were forced to acquire ’the unenviable skill of developing a tolerance for ambiguity’ (Carpenter, Morrow & Schmale 1989)
